Chris Sovey, DPT, RN, BSN

Hi There, This is Dr. Chris Sovey, Physical Therapist and Registered Nurse and Owner of Healthy Consumer Physical Therapy in Lansing, MI. Thank you for checking out our website and considering us for your therapy needs.

Let’s see, what can I tell you… I’m a Taurus… I like long walks on the beach … just kidding… You’ll have to bear with my sense of humor.

My professional background is as a Physical Therapist and Registered Nurse. I have a passion for helping others transform their lives through holistic healing. My interest in this goes back well over a decade.

In College, I suffered from severe anxiety and depression. I began to recognize that I had more power to make changes in myself than I previously gave credit. I refused to be a victim to my circumstances.

I learned about nutrition, mindfulness, and well-designed exercise as means to improve my conditions. Today, I continue to coach my clients and learn about lifestyle medicine through my online, anonymous Anxiety and Depression courses. You can find out more about these courses in our “services” tab.

I graduated from Michigan State with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing. Shortly after graduating, I passed my Nursing board exam.

I loved the nursing field, but knew it was not quite the right fit for me. I started looking into Physical Therapy, and I loved the idea of developing longer-term relationships with clients and watching them grow and heal over a period of time.

Towards the middle of Physical Therapy School, I suffered a devastating accident that herniated two of my thoracic spine discs and tore my left hip labrum.

This felt like a major set-back. However, I knew intuitively that with the right medical team, rehab, time, faith, and support, I could recover.

So when I say “I understand how you feel,” I often really do…. and while I may not know EXACTLY what you are going through, I’m no stranger to pain or dysfunction.

Through my struggles, I have become a stronger and more empathetic practitioner.

In my spare time, I am a musician and I love reading and learning about business, marketing. I also have a passion for Pilates, building my YouTube channel, and learning about technology.

Thanks so much for listening, and I encourage you to check out some of our other videos on this website, particularly “Our Treatment Philosophy.”

How We Will Get You FAST Results

We wanted to take a few moments to explain how we will get YOU, not only fast, but comprehensive results from your time with us.

Our number one goal is to “help adults like you with unresolved pain live active lifestyles and reduce the need for invasive surgeries, procedures, or medications.”

With this mission in mind, we set out to design targeted, yet comprehensive assessments and treatments for your painful condition.

Whether you are looking to get back to playing with your kids or grand-kids, walk without pain, or something as simple as sleeping through the night without discomfort, We can help.

Instead of providing cookie-cutter rehabilitation, we will assess you from head to toe, and make you a customized plan to your needs.

Here at HCPT, we approach treatment from a holistic viewpoint. After collecting a thorough medical history, we review your nutrition and stress management skills, followed by a comprehensive movement assessment. We will look at your your body as a whole and no longer as individual parts.

We will integrate all these different components into an individualized plan, custom to your needs. Throughout your care, you will receive hands-on, 1-on-1 care with a highly trained practitioner. You will never be tossed between 3-4 different providers.

This is how we will get you back to what you love, as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

Treatment Philosophy

We want to help you get back to what you love as quickly and permanently as possible.

In order to do this, we built our clinic around the idea of treating the person as a whole. This means no more viewing you as “a shoulder patient” or “a knee patient.”

Instead, we are going to assess you as an unique individual, and treat you as such. After completing a thorough examination of your movement patterns, medical history, lifestyle habits, and stress management skills, we will make an individualized plan, specific to your needs.

We believe in empowering the individual to be independent and return to what they love as fast as possible.

This means our time together is not passive. Because we see each other infrequently, (instead of 3x/week for 4 weeks like most clinics)…

Our number one priority is to help adults with ongoing, unresolved pain live active lifestyles and reduce the need for invasive surgeries, procedures, or medications.

We give you the tools you need to be successful in the long run. We take this approach because you see us 1-2 hours per week, and you are with yourself 24 hours per day.

That means we need to set you up with the tools to be successful BETWEEN visits.

We treat this way, as educators, to help prevent recurrence of your painful conditions, and to help you make informed decisions about your care.

We will continue to re-assess your progress with each visit, and adjust our plan accordingly, together …. As a team.

If you are still requiring further clarity on how we treat our clients, I recommend booking a free discovery phone session, where we can discuss your individual needs.

Another option to learn more, is to check out our YouTube channel. As of the time of this recording, we are nearing 10,000 Healthy Consumers. So with that … What are you waiting for!?
